“Disability in Genetic Counselling” Panel Discussion

As part of the Genetic Counselling Education Series, please join us at our upcoming panel discussion, “Disability in Genetic Counselling” on May 17, 2024 (Friday) 12:00pm – 1:00pm (Pacific Time) via Zoom. The series is sponsored by the UBC Genetic Counselling Program and Provincial Medical Genetics Program to provide a variety of educational opportunities in professional development for genetic counsellors in BC. We are pleased to welcome three panelists who will offer their expertise and experiences: Dr. Jonathon Breen, PhD, MSW, BA (Postdoctoral Fellow, Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy, UBC FoM), Allison Wheeler, MS, CGC (Neurology/Rare Disease Genetic Counseling Fellow at the University of Colorado), and Alana Newton, MA (CNPS) (Registered Clinical Counsellor). We will explore the awareness and support of those living and working with a disability or chronic condition within the medical profession, including Genetic Counselling. This includes interactions with patients as well as colleagues and inclusiveness within the education and training of new students. This series has been approved by the National Society of Genetic Counselors (NSGC) for Category 1 CEUs. If you are interested in attending, please contact UBC Medical Genetics Education (medgeneducation@cw.bc.ca) for further information.
